God and Sex

This morning was the seventh message in our “Marriage Matters” series entitled “Sex is”. As I prepared I was struck by the deep spiritual reality of sex, that it is so much more than a physical act but one that reflects the nature of God’s oneness and is an amazing act of worship.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. What a powerful reminder of God’s presence in the marriage relationship.

  1. Over the years, I have heard various sermons on sex, but moreso from the perspective of the 7th commandment. This was a refreshing message with such a deep spiritual impact as you explained the connection between the intimate marriage relationship and worship of God. May every part of our lives be a spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:1). Hoopa!

  2. I was somewhat offended by addressing this issue publically in such a manner.

  3. This morning I tried to say something as to enjoying the sermon but I have trouble explaining myself. Like last week’s the act of sex is what I feel the world has robbed us of. The intamacy is lost and therefore how can God be a part of it. The intamacy between you, your spouce and God is what makes it unique and so special. As we learn God’s love we can love genuinely others and especially our partners more intamently which keeps the marraige working. One thing I cannot enjoy but pray for our young people which helps KEEP their marraige safe and as in, vows for better or worse and until death do us part. Thank you pastor for the wisdom the Lord has given you.
