Wrong About Heaven?

NT Wright has written a new book "Surprised by Hope" in which he states that he believes our understanding of heaven is distorted.  Time Magazine recentily interviewed Wright about his book and the topic.  Of great interest is Wright’s description of the Intermediate State.

No doubt heaven is a touchy theological topic.  We should, however, be open to the question of what really is the hope of the scriptures, Heaven or the New Heaven and Earth?  What dost thou think or does it matter at all?

    Interesting article.
It seems to me that NT Wright has combined several schools of thoughts in his eschatology viewpoint. I see a bit of annihilism and a hint of universalism.
Heaven and the afterlife seems to be a fascinating topic…I’ve heard the Book is even better (LOL).
I see heaven as a two part process; scripture teaches us that “…to be absent in the body, is to be present with the Lord..” where our spirit/soul is conscious before our Lord… and the second aspect is the reuniting of our spirit/soul to our resurrected, glorified bodies. I understand scripture teaches that we will reign with Christ for all eternity…I believe we start in Heaven and continue in the New Heaven-Earth after the Final Judgement. Just my thoughts
